CBN and CBG
October 2, 2023
Anyone who has been consuming cannabis has at one point heard the terms THC and CBD used to describe the cannabinoids in the strain you’re smoking. While those terms are still used today, we now know that other major cannabinoids are beneficial to be aware of. Many of these cannabinoids provide medical benefits such as pain relief and anti-inflammatory properties. CBG and CBN contain some of the greatest medical benefits that cannabinoids have to offer. Both CBG and CBN are created when cannabis is oxidized, or exposed to oxygen over time.
CBN
CBN is the non-intoxicating cannabinoid most associated with Indica strains. It has long been associated with sedating effect that varies depending on the content of the strain. While pure CBN won’t sedate you, the combination of CBN and other terpenes and cannabinoids will give you that effect. In addition to its potential calming properties, CBN also has a list of other benefits. When shopping at the Cannabis Growers Showcases, you can find CBN in our Blueberry Muffin strain.
Anti-inflammatory
Its anti-inflammatory properties are great for someone who has arthritis or other joint pain. Many studies have been done and continue to be done to prove that this may be a huge step forward for the relief of those who suffer from arthritis.
Appetite Stimulation
People who suffer from nausea or are undergoing chemotherapy can greatly benefit from strains high in CBN, as it will increase the appetite of those who use it.
Glaucoma treatment
Because CBN reduces intra-ocular pressure, users who suffer from glaucoma can find some relief with a strain high in CBN.
Antibacterial
Many studies have shown that strains high in CBN contain high levels of antibacterial properties in them. It has been proven to be a powerful antibacterial agent against MRSA viruses that were resistant to traditional antibiotics. This could lead to studies proving this cannabinoid could be useful in medicine where traditional antibiotics won’t work.
Neuroprotectant
One study has shown that CBN was beneficial in treating the symptoms of ALS and delaying its onset. This could be a huge breakthrough in the ALS community and prolong the quality of life for those who suffer.
CBG
While many may have not heard of CBG, its health properties have been used for decades and have often been referred to as the “Mother of all Cannabinoids”. Like CBN, CBG is not psychoactive on its own, but contains a multitude of benefits. Because of this, CBG can be derived from hemp plants in addition to cannabis plants. When plants are maturing, they contain the cannabinoid CBGA. At the end of the growth cycle, the plants absorb more oxygen and convert that into CBG. Blueberry Muffin also contains CBG in addition to CBN. This strain is perfect for anyone looking to wind down and help relieve some unwelcome issues such as pain and stimulating appetite.
Benefits
Intraocular pressure
Like the aforementioned CBN, CBG also contains properties that help reduce intraocular pressure and aid with glaucoma side effects.
Anti-inflammatory
Again, as in CBN, CBG contains anti-inflammatory properties. CBG has been tested to be beneficial for anyone dealing with IBS or colitis as it relaxes the muscles in the bowel and allows for relief. It has also been shown to help with muscle spasms and soreness.
Cancer inhibitor and treatment
Studies have shown that CBG has been beneficial in the treatment of breast, gastric, colon, and certain brain cancers by stopping the progression of cancer cells and aiding in killing cancer cells, while not affecting the healthy cells in the body.
Appetite Stimulant
CBG is a great cannabinoid for anyone needing to spike their hunger or anyone receiving cancer treatments that affect appetite.
